Just go! Love the buffet here, especially the chicken tikka masala. The price is also high value - currently 15.99 on the weekday. The ambience is sublime and the waterfall lends a charming music to whatever conversation you're having (or not! It's a beautiful spot to come alone.) if it's your first time, you pay at the exit after you get done with your meal. That part isn't easily spelled out if no one is in attendance at the stand to your left when you walk into the restaurant. But also.... don't drop your tandoori chicken from the phenomenal buffet all over your white top. It'll come out but you'll be very, very worried.
I know they had true dishes. But i went with some india chicken and garlic naan. The sauce was light and a welcome change. Garlic naan was the best. So they have sherpa working there and so nice. I would go back just to sit with them. Seating was outside on a patio wiih water effects. No words to describe this place. A must stop if in town.
Great vegetarian platter and beautiful decor/ambiance. I came here late evening on a Friday and they had seating available outdoors and indoors. We sat outdoors in their gorgeous patio area with art, landscaping, and water displays. The waitstaff seemed very busy but was still attentive and quick. I got the vegetarian Sherpa platter and veggie pakora and that was great. Plenty of food for two with leftovers too. All the food was delicious and the platter even came with a serving of Naan.
Super cute garden/patio area. Love love sherpa house, a gem in Golden! Slightly farther on main street, there is a small parking lot and we usually make a reservation when we know we're coming here. The one time we didn't, we had to wait about 30 minutes. When the weather is nice, we love sitting in the garden area. The food never disappoints, drinks are great, and service is very friendly!
Nepalese cuisine? A lot of what is on the menu is similar to Indian food, but there are some items that I have not seen elsewhere. First off, you can have yak meat in many of the dishes It is worth noting that Tarkari is basically a curry dish and daal is the same lentil soup that you'd find at many Indian restaurants. So, Daal Bhat Tarkari is a set meal that consists of lentil soup, rice, and curry. Apparently, this is a national dish of Nepal. One of our fellow diners got this and it looked very good. He was happy with his choice. As with many places, they offer several spice levels, depending on your preference. The momo (dumplings) are a traditional street food and are a nice way to start the meal, though not really required since the dinner portions are generous. Of our group, most people ordered either a curry or a vindaloo at various levels of spiciness and meats ranging from chicken to yak. Yak is mostly like beef to me, and at a high spice level, it was difficult to tell the difference. I think everyone enjoyed their meals as the plates were clean at the end of the meal. We ate in the "garden" area outside and it was nice. They seem to allow pets in that area. I'd like to eat inside next time since on our way through, it looked to be very interestingly decorated. The service was good throughout the meal, although once our plates were cleared, it seemed like we were forgotten and we had to just about grab a server to get them to let us pay. They were pretty busy, but I'd think you'd want to turn a table to get more people in faster. I recommend a reservation, especially if there is something going on at the nearby school or if you have more than a few people in your party. Either that or be ready to wait for a while.
The patio at the Sherpa House included colorful banners, great music, and water fountains under a shady canopy; it made for a perfect place to enjoy the lunch buffet.
It's not every day one can sample Nepalese cuisine, and Sherpa House Restaurant is dripping with charm and character. You'll see that the rooms of the house incorporate the culture as you walk through. So many artifacts - it's almost like an antique store. The patio is gorgeous with trees, fountains and flags for shade. I wasn't very hungry, so I had a cup of chicken soup. It was very flavorful and filled with large chunks of chicken and vegetables. They did not phone this version in. I ordered some garlic naan to accompany the soup, and it was a showstopper! Absolute perfection. My husband and son enjoyed their chicken curry and chicken vindaloo, and the table shared some chicken momo. (Yes, we went all out on the chicken that night!) This is a great place to visit in Golden.
One of the many reasons we were drawn to Sherpa House was the dog friendly patio. There are so many seats throughout- both indoors and outdoors. Each room is well decorated and you can learn about the culture and history. The back patio has big tress and flags to provide shade. The service is attentive and friendly. I can see why it's so popular. Parking lot may be small but there's plenty of street parking nearby. We came at lunch and chose the buffet option. There were plenty of items available. There are plenty of momo options and the chicken was very tender and tasty. Definitely look at the menu beforehand to know if you want buffet or off the menu. The buffet does have the popular items but if you want something like garlic naan, it's not part of the buffet. You can always order additionally to the buffet.
Oh I think I'm in heaven! This is the third time for me and the second time for Dave that we came to Sherpa House. My daughter had her wedding reception there and it was so beautiful! Surrounded by beautiful flowers, trees and spouting water fountains, you would think you're in Nepal. We had the luncheon buffet and there were many delicious choices. Some were Indian and I was familiar with them, others a little different. Like the spicy lamb soup with meat and vegetables in the broth. I had the Dag soup, which has lentils. My favorite was the noodle dish which reminded me of lo mein but with many delicious spices. I think I must of been Italian in another life lol! Best if all we were allowed to bring Freckles into this beautiful garden. The city of Golden Colorado is pretty impressive itself. Today the streets were packed with families, kids and dogs. What a lovely dreamy afternoon we had! Beautiful Colorful Colorado and the Sherpa House!
My second time at this lovely Nepalese restaurant which I highly recommend btw. Got a table for four immediately in their outdoor section on Saturday afternoon. My husband and a friend decided to do the lunch buffet while my other friend and I did the a la carte menu. Their weekend lunch buffet was pretty elaborate, I saw the multiple vegetarian and non vegetarian options along with apps and dessert. We decided to get the chowmein and veggie momos and I loved how spicy yet flavorful the chowmein was. Our friend who had never tried Nepalese food is also a fan now. They have quite a few options of beer on tap. I decided to get the chai and it was really good - almost like home made chai. I love how this place has a homely ambiance along with good food. Highly recommend this place if you're in the Golden area.
